It further considers the Bible s literacy. Thus, selected rhetorical figures, Biblical literary genres or the specific form of aesthetic function is discussed therein. A reader shall also find there a wide description of Biblical inspiration noticeable in art and literature: the deliberations embrace painting, music, architecture and graphics. The second part of the thesis is entitled The Bible in the didactic - educational process . Chapter One discusses selected curricula implemented in upper secondary schools. They rep¬ resent various conceptions on the work on the Bible and their variety is worth emphasising. The description of the curricula is accompanied with notes in the form of didactic instructions. Chapter Two deals with the formative (educational) value of the Bible. There is an attempt to prove its significance in the didactic-educational process. It further points to certain Books comprising the Old and the New Testament which contain the greatest educational value. The importance of The Gospel and its main figure - Jesus Christ is also emphasised. Deliberation on Him may enrich the axiological level of school influence. Chapter Three is devoted to a specific method of the Bible reading - lectio divina. This method used to be widely applied by priests, however today - especially after Vaticanum II s settlements - it undergoes a revival. This method may as well be used at school - it shall prob¬ ably contribute to the development of new seeds of contemplation (insitum verbum) express¬ ing itself in both the deepness of consideration and the activity undertaken for the benefit of another human being. The last chapter is entitled Biblical awareness of students in view of conducted research . The test research which referred to different aspects of the Bible was conducted among 521 students from schools in Poznan, Zielona Góra, Żary and Międzychód. It tested students knowledge of general information of the Bible, familiarity with the content of chosen Books, recognition of Biblical genres, interpretation of Biblical symbols, awareness of the Bibles culture forming function and the knowledge of Jesus Christ. The results of the test may contribute to the increase of both knowledge and competence with regard to the work on the Bible. The last part of the thesis includes lessons projects devoted to the following Books: Genesis, Job, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, Proverbs, Psalms, The Gospels and The Apocalypse. The basic principle applied in the abovementioned projects is the rule of didactic pluralism which con¬ nects different methods and techniques: traditional (e.g. typolektoralna method, different forms of documentary analysis e.g. Heuresis, problem - solving method, lecture or discussion) and 510 Summary active (intersemiotic translation, pointed discussion, time line, theme text, for and against debate, metaplan, Västers method). The subsequent lessons are dominated by educational purposes. The students task is to get acquainted with the Bibiical texts. Students are also made to find motives of Biblical origin in various works - then they are able to perceive the Bible as a cultural code. In connection with Biblical texts adaptation I try to shape the creative attitude of my students. The personaliza¬ tion as well as the intériorisation of selected pericopes turns out to be significant as the Bible is addressed not only to some chosen ones - it is a specific form of a letter directed to a human being. Its fragments may serve as a basis for reflection on our contemporary times. The discus¬ sion on the Gospel, due to its main figure Jesus Christ, is of fundamental rank. His life and his message are still a specific misterium Christi, however thanks to the exploration and clearing of the mystery, a man may discover the fullness of his humanity - still today in the 21st century. The evangelic message appears still alive and may turn out to be extremely fruitful. Translated by Aneta Łozińska
