This timely book brings together leading figures from practice and
academia
specializing in intellectual property, competition law, and economics. Chapters in this
book examine the changing interface between intellectual property and competition law
and the recent expansion of the latter s reach into the sphere of intellectual
property rights.
Contributions focus on a wide range

areas and practices, where new frontiers in
the interface between the two fields have been noticeable. These include
changés
to the
concept of abuse of dominance and its subsequent effect on refusal to license intellectual
property, refusal to grant access to trade secrets, tying and bundling, price discrimination,
unfair pricing, and abuse of the European Supplementary Protection system by a
patent owner.
The book also explores in depth the application of competition law in the pharmaceutical
sector, the European and US approach to Standard Setting and FRAND Commitments,
and their respective approaches to licensing agreements.
Chapters examine the most recent cases and fields of regulation on both sides of the
Atlantic. They provide a unique combination of practical and policy oriented analysis
which appraises the increasingly complex and often strained relationship between
intellectual property and competition law.
