-
Swami Sivananda
Sri Swami
Sivananda is hailed as the Prophet
of the new age for his inestimable services in the
cause of raising the moral and spiritual standard of
the modern mankind.
He was Born on 8th September
1887
at
Pattamadai, South India. His passion for service
drew him towards the medical profession. As a
doctor
he served in Malaysia for
10
years. He
discovered that people needed right knowledge most
of all; dissemination of that knowledge he espoused
as his own mission.
It was divine dispensation and the blessing of
upon mankind that the doctor of body and
renounced his medical career and took to a life
renunciation. After embracing the holy order of
Sannyasa in
1924,
he settled down at Rishikesh,
practised intense austerities and shone as a great
Yogi, saint, sage and jivanmukta.
He founded The Divine Life Society in
1936
and the Yoga Vedanta Forest Academy in
1948.
Dissemination of Spiritual knowledge and training
of people in Yoga and Vedanta were their main aim
and object. In
1950
He toured all over India and
Ceyloné
and created a spiritual stir and awakening
throughout. He convened a World Parliament of
Religions in
1953,
attended by delegates from all
over the world.
Swami Sivananda has written over
300
books
on Yoga and Vedanta, Health and Healing. His
inspiring,
godii/,
dedicated life has brought about
the resurgence of Bharatavarsha s
Dharma
and
Spiritual Ideals and made the vibrant message of
India to reach all parts of the modern world. He has
disciples all over the world, belonging to all
nationalities, religions and creeds.
To read his works is to drink at the Fountain of
Wisdom Supreme. On 14th
luh/
1963
he attained
Life is Divine in its origin, content and meaning.
There is a Divine spark in everyone. Bliss is indeed, thy
essential nature. The obstacles to Bliss and Divine nature
are in the mind. To be a slave of mind is ignorance.
Nothing, therefore, can bring you bliss but the conquest
of mind. Lead the Life Divine, track back your innate
Divinity. Bliss, then, is yours.
This book shows to the seekers, a clearcut, well-
defined open path free from all mystifications and
ambiguities. The essays are Powerfully charged with the
dominant Spiritual knowledge. For, Sri Swami
Sivanandaji says, every activity in life can be
transformed into a Yoga of Divine, by acquiring the
requisite knowledge through study and contemplation.
An understanding of these essays, will inspire and
uplift the readers heart, sanctify the Spirit, and a deep
reflection will reveal the secret of Bliss and Divine nature
of the Soul.
We hope this presentation proves as an invaluable
guide to all seekers, sadhaks and aspirants. May Lord
bless all with eternal Bliss, everlasting Peace and
Spiritual illumination.
