Summary
Town-planning art in the Republic of Moldova. The general picture
The town-planning of any state is indissolubly connected with its history
and evolution. The most interesting city structures represent an embodiment of
city ideals. In the cultural heritage of a city are embodied various processes and
events, which have occurred in the society, and every new stage of development
introduces its own vision of town-planning. Thus, cities become a sort of stone
annals , where each page stores secrets of many generations of townspeople.
Today it is of big interest the town-planning of the young sovereign state
-
the Republic of Moldova, heir of very different town-planning traditions: antique
Greek and Roman, medieval Moldavian, neo-classical Russian, interwar Roma¬
nian and post-war Soviet.
It is necessary to note, that until now there were no synthesized scientific
work, which would describe the basic stages of the Moldavian town-planning
since the ancient times. There exist only separate works devoted to antique cities
of Northern Black Sea Coast, to medieval Moldavian settlements, to cities of
Bessarabia being part of Russian empire and Royal Romania, as well as the cities
of the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic being part of the Soviet Union. But
the biggest part of the printed editions, devoted to Russian and post-war period,
has laudatory, propaganda character and only few works analyze the given phe¬
nomenon objectively.
This monography analyses centuries-old process of development of town-
planning of the Republic of Moldova, revealing the basic architectural-planning
features of cities. In here the GENERAL PICTURE of the Moldavian town-plan¬
ning art is presented. Geographical frameworks vary: during the antique and me¬
dieval periods the territory in borders of the Moldavian princedom is conside¬
red; from the beginning of XlXth century till
1945
is studied town-planning of
Bessarabia
-
territories of eastern Moldova located between Prut and Dniester
rivers; during
1945-1991
it is the territory of MSSR (Moldavian Soviet Socialist
Republic), and since
1991
-the territory of the sovereign state of the Republic of
Moldova are considered. As the subject of studying, the most significant cities of
Moldova are considered.
In this monography for the first time the practical and the theoretical material
on the Moldavian town-planning is systematized and generalized. For the first
time all theoretical models, inherent during centuries to the Moldavian town-
planning, are considered. A number of new scientific data, icongraphic and car-

tographic materials of XVIII-XXIth centuries, etc. are introduced into scientific
use.
The monography consists of four chapters in which basic features of the
town-planning phenomenon in the Republic are investigated chronologically. The
first chapter is devoted to the antique period where as the object of study is pre¬
sented by the city of Tyras. The second chapter considers medieval settlements of
the Moldavian princedom, and the third

the cities of Bessarabian area. The last
chapter presents town-planning of Bessarabia during the inter-war period, town-
planning of MSSR during the Soviet period and town-planning of the Republic of
Moldova since
1991.
In each chapter vivid examples of town-planning heritage
of the corresponding period are considered.
The present work is addressed to experts in the field of architecture and
town-planning, to critics, restorers, historians, pupils of the higher and secondary
specialized educational establishments and all those who are interested in the
past of the cities of the Republic of Moldova.

Градостроительное искусство в Республике Молдова.
Общий обзор
Градостроительство любого государства неразрывно связано с его исто¬
рией и эволюцией. Самые интересные городские строения представляют
собой воплощение городских идеалов. В городском культурном наследии
запечетлены различные процессы и события, произошедшие в обществе, а
каждый новый этап привносит свое собственное видение градостроитель¬
ного «порядка». Таким образом, города становятся своеобразными «камен¬
ными летописями», каждая страница которых хранит секреты многих по¬
колений горожан.
Сегодня представляет большой интерес градостроительство молодого
суверенного государства —Республики Молдова, наследницы самых различ¬
ных градостроительных традиций: античных греческих и римских, средне¬
вековых молдавских, неоклассических русских, межвоенных румынских и
послевоенных советских.
Следует отметить, что до настоящего времени не существует обобщаю¬
щей научной работы, характеризующей основные этапы молдавского гра¬
достроительства, начиная с самых давних пор. Все же имеются отдельные
публикации, посвященные античным городам Северного Причерноморья,
средневековым молдавским поселениям, городам Бессарабии в составе Рос¬
сийской Империи и Королевской Румынии, а также городам Молдавской
Советской Социалистической Республики в составе Советского Союза. Но
большая часть печатных изданий, посвященных русскому и послевоенному
периоду, носит хвалебный, пропагандистский характер и лишь немногие
работы анализируют данный феномен объективно и аргументированно.
Настоящая монография прослеживает многовековой процесс развития
градостроительства Республики Молдова, выявляя основные архитектурно-
планировочные особенности городов. Здесь представлена ОБЩАЯ КАР¬
ТИНА молдавского градостроительного искусства. Географические рамки
варьируют: в античный и средневековый период рассмотрена территория в
границах Молдавского княжества; с начала
XIX
в. по
1944
г. изучается гра¬
достроительство Бессарабии
-
территории восточной Молдовы, располо¬
женной между Прутом и Днестром; в
1945-1991
гг. рассмотрена территория
МССР, ас
1991
г.

территория суверенного государства Республики Мол¬
дова. Предметом изучения являются самые значимые города Молдовы.
В данной монографии впервые систематизирован, обобщен и введен в
научный оборот практический и теоретический материал по молдавскому
градостроительству. Впервые рассмотрены все теоретические модели, при¬
сущие молдавскому градостроительству на протяжении веков. В научный
оборот вводится ряд новых научных данных, в том числе графические ма¬
териалы
XVIII-XXI
вв. и др.
Монография состоит из четырех глав, в которых, хронологически, ис¬
следуются основные особенности градостроительного феномена в респу¬
блике. Первая глава посвящена античному периоду, где в качестве изучае¬
мого объекта фигурирует город Тира. Вторая глава рассматривает средне¬
вековые поселения Молдавского княжества, а третья

города Бессарабской
области. Последняя глава представляет градостроительство Бессарабии в
межвоенный период, градостроительство МССР в советский период и гра¬
достроительство Республики Молдова после
1991
г.
Настоящая работа адресована специалистам в области архитектуры и
градостроительства, реставраторам, искусствоведам, историкам, студентам
и преподавателям высших и средних профильных учреждений и всем тем,
кто интересуется прошлым городов Республики Молдова.
