УКсхнеи in American History Since iSSO presents a collection of over 60 primary source documents that illuminate the diverse experiences of women during different time periods in America. The readings - carefully chosen to represent a broad spectrum of voices from the Gilded Age to the present- are organized around four major themes within each chronological unit: work, citizenship, representations, and domestic lives. The documents provide readers with a strong sense of historical narrative and context while revealing how significant historic events have shaped and have been shaped by women's active participation in the world around them. The readings explore such issues as wage labor and unionization, suffrage and civil rights, artistic representations of women, and domestic lives and womens health and sexuality. Collectively, the readings in Vl’omen in American History Since isso offer invaluable insights into the past that will contribute to our understanding of the diverse - and often contradictory - experiences of American women. |
