Some recent biographies have produced their
own theories, often presented as fact, and this
is perhaps the first biography which has
allowed Byron to speak for himself at any
length, and particularly at crucial moments of
his life.

man and brought up three children in Germany,
London, New York and Sussex, where she now
lives. Her four crime novels continue to keep her
