Collaborative Information Management in Enterprises
In business
organisations,
growing amounts of elec¬
tronic information make efficient information handling
difficult for individuals. The most significant challenges
for the user are the fragmentation of information
objects, the rigid structuring possibilities in data repo¬
sitories and the isolation of information work. The user-
centred system
Tagit
combines current approaches of
Personal Information Management (PIM) and collabo¬
rative tagging. It resolves information fragmentation by
supporting unification on metadata and access level.
Rigid structuring paradigms are replaced by free mul¬
tiple classification, thus catering for idiosyncratic orga¬
nising behaviour. Lastly, Tog/t combines personal and
collaborative information management by a central
database enabling users to share each others per¬
sonal, associative views on information. Thus, meta¬
data generated by users primarily for personal benefit
serve information dissemination on enterprise level.
Für Mitarbeiter in Unternehmen gestaltet sich der effi¬
ziente Umgang mit einer ständig wachsenden Menge
elektronisch verfügbarer Informationen schwierig. Die
wesentlichen Herausforderungen aus Anwendersicht
sind die Fragmentierung von Informationen, die starren
Stmkturierungsmöglichkeiten in Datenspeichern und
die Isolierung von Wissensarbeit. Das anwenderorien¬
tierte System
Tasit
verbindet aktuelle Ansätze aus
dem Persönlichen Informationsmanagement (PIM) und
Collaborative
Tagging. Die Fragmentierung wird durch
Unifizierung von Informationen auf Metadaten- und
Zugriffsebene überwunden. Starre Strukturen werden
durch freie, multiple Klassifikation ersetzt, welche das
idiosynkratische Organisationsverhalten unterstützt.
Letztlich verbindet
Taçlt
persönliches und kollabora-
tives Informationsmanagement durch eine zentrale
Datenbank, die den Zugriff auf die persönlichen, asso¬
ziativen Sichten anderer Anwender erlaubt. Somit
dienen Metadaten, die Anwender in erster Linie aus
eigenem Nutzen generieren, der Verbreitung von Infor¬
mationen auf Unternehmensebene.
