des camps de concentration les plus meurtriers de la Seconde
Guerre mondiale: le KL-Natzweiler. Sur les

individus qui
y sont passés, plus de
20000
n en sont pas revenus, victimes de condi¬
tions de détention terrifiantes, d expériences scientifiques dévastatrices
et d impitoyables «marches de la mort».
À l appui d archives inédites et de témoignages, Robert Steegmann
propose une étude magistrale de ce camp méconnu. Instrument d une
politique de répression violente, réservoir de main-d œuvre pour l in¬
dustrie allemande, il obéit à la logique implacable de la mécanique
concentrationnaire qui s exerce de chaque côté du Rhin.
À travers les départs et les arrivées, les travaux forcés, les punitions ou
les expériences médicales, ce sont les hommes, victimes ou agents
dociles de la barbarie, qui sont au cœur de ce livre.
ROBERT STEEGMANN
Docteur en histoire et professeur agrégé, il enseigne l histoire contem¬
poraine en classes préparatoires à Strasbourg. Membre du conseil scien¬
tifique du Centre européen du déporté-résistant, il a notamment publié
Struthof. Le KL-Natzweiler et ses
kommandos
