Literacy in Enterprises
Scientific information literacy has become one of the
most influential factors regarding business innovative-
ness within our economic system. This thesis explores
scientific information behaviour, associated skills and
related problems within the workplace enviranement.
At the beginning, a model of the scientific information
process at the workplace and related competencies is
designed on basis of a well-grounded literature research.
Subsequently, an empirical study is planned and con¬
ducted at the pharmaceutical company Roche Diagnos¬
tics GmbH, Penzberg. This study identifies a variety of
different patterns of
information
behaviour and related
skills within the scientific information process. Within this
scope, a questionnaire measuring the attitude of know¬
ledge workers towards this process is being created
and applied. Finally, study results describe a number of
typical problems of this process. Problem-related strate¬
gies to support scientific workplace information literacy
within the organisational environment are presented and
partly implemented.
Wissenschaftliche Informationskompetenz ist heutzu¬
tage einer der einflussreichsten Faktoren für die Inno-
vationsfähtgkeit unserer Wirtschaft. Diese Arbeit unter¬
sucht das wissenschaftliche Informationsverhatten und
damit verbundene Kompetenzen und Probleme im Un¬
ternehmen. Der Grundlagenteil der Arbeit entwickelt
ein Modell des wissenschaftlichen Informationsprozes¬
ses im Unternehmen und den damit verbundenen
Fähigkeiten auf Basis einer fundierten Literaturrecher¬
che. Darauf erfolgt die Planung, Durchführung und
Auswertung einer empirischen Studie. Anwendurtgs-
beispiei ist das pharmazeutische Unternehmen
Roche
Diagnostics GmbH,
Penzberg. Die Studie hat das
Ziel, verschiedene Muster von Informationsverhalten
und Informaöonskompetenzen im wissenschaftlichen
Informationsprozess zu identifizieren. In dieser Studie
wird u.a. ein Fragebogen zur Messung der Einstellung
der Mitarbeiter zu eben diesem Prozess eingesetzt.
Anschließend werden typische Probleme dieses Pro¬
zesses dokumentiert und problerrtorienBerte Lösungs¬
strategien zur Unterstützung von wtssenschaffflcher
Informationekompetenz am Arbeitsplatz präsentiert
und teilweise umgesetzt.
