век, в
продължение
на
близо четири века адриати¬
ческата република Дубровник имала почти монополно право да търгува
с
обширната Османска империя. За тази оживена търговия в Дубровнишкия
архив са запазени обилни сведения за целия Балкански полуостров, вклю¬
чително и за българските земи.
През втората половина на
XVII
век тази търговия постепенно запада. При¬
чините за това са няколко. Първо, след голямото и разрушително земетресе¬
ние през
1667
г. градът не могъл да се съвземе и да достигне прежното си
търговско величие. Второ, от
1683
до
1699
г., т.
е в продължение на близо две
десетилетия Османската империя водела неуспешна война със „Свещения
съюз" (Австрия, Полша, Венеция и Русия). След като разгромили турската
войска под стените на Виена, австрийците превзели Белград и достигнали чак
до Ниш и Скопие. По същото време само за три години в българските земи
избухнали Второто търновско
(1686),
Чипровското
(1688)
и Карпошовото
(1689
г.) въстание. В резултат на това били прекъснати пътищата и сериозно
намаляла дубровнишката сухопътна търговия, която била предимно керванс-
ка. Трето, Османската империя сключила заробващи договори със западните
държави, които постепенно взели в свои ръце почти цялата външнотърговска
дейност на империята и изместили решително дубровничаните.
Поради това именно, когато се говори за дубровнишката търговия
с
бъл¬
гарските земи, авторите обикновено достигат до края на
XVII
век и почти не
говорят за
XVÏÏI
век. Причината за това от една страна е, че огромният дубров-
ншпки архив все още не е проучен напълно. От друга страна в запазените ос¬
новни книги за търговска дейност сведенията за
XVIII
век са твърде оскъдни.
Тази голяма празнота в търговските връзки на Дубровник
с
българските
земи за
XVIII
век до голяма степен може да бъде запълнена от сведенията,
които съдържа един важен и почти неизползван досега източник. Става
дума за запазените книги от карантинната служба на града, обособени в
серията „Здравеопазване"
(Sanitas).
Поради големите епидемии, които ставали в Османската империя, влас¬
тите в Дубровник организирали извън града карантинна служба. През нея
трябвало да преминават и да престояват за обеззаразяване за определено
време както хората, така и докараните от тях стоки и лични вещи. Между
другото тази карантинна служба, завеждана от специален служител, била
използвана и за събиране на съответното мито върху пристигналата стока.
Foreword
From the beginning of the 15th century throughout nearly four centuries the
Adriatic republic of
Dubrovnik
had almost the
monopole
right to trade with
the large Ottoman Empire. About this active commerce, abundant data are kept
in the Archives of
Dubrovnik
concerning the Balkan Peninsula, including the
Bulgarian lands.
During the second half of the 17th
с
this trade gradually declined. There are
several causes for this. Firstly, after the great and devastating earthquake of
1667
the city could not recover and reach its previous grandeur. Secondly, from
1683
to
1699,
or almost for two decades, the Ottoman Empire made war on the
Holy League (Austria, Poland, Venice and Russia). After routing the Turkish
troops under the walls of Vienna, the Austrians took by assault Belgrade and
reached Nish and Skopje. At the same time only within three years the Second
Tarnovo uprising
(1686),
the Ciprovec
(1688)
and Karposh
(1689)
uprisings
erupted in the Bulgarian lands. As a result the roads were cut and the land
commerce, which was predominantly by caravans, seriously decreased. Thirdly,
the Ottoman Empire concluded enslaving contracts with the Western countries,
which took in their hands almost all the foreign trade activity of the Empire and
definitely ousted the Dubrovnikans.
Really because of this, when telling about the
Dubrovnik
trade, the authors
merely reached the end of the 17th
с
and did not talk about the 18th century.
The reason is on the one hand that the huge Archives of
Dubrovnik
are not
yet investigated as a whole. At the other hand, the data upon

8th century are
extremely scarce in the kept main merchant books.
This large lack in the trade relations of
Dubrovnik
with the Bulgarian lands
for the
1
8th
с
may be completed by data contained in an important source unused
up to now. It is speaking about the preserved books of the quarantine service of
the city, which consist the Sanitas series.
Because of the great epidemics in the Ottoman Empire, the authorities
in
Dubrovnik
organized outside the city a quarantine service. People and
their goods and personal belongings had to pass through it and to stay for
decontamination for an established period. Besides this, this quarantine service
that a special officer ran, served also for collecting taxes on the incoming
goods. |
