controls, inlet and exhaust treatments, inspection, troubleshooting, noise con¬
trol, inlet cooling for power augmentation and NOx control. A full chapter is
devoted to
microturbines.
The fourth edition places additional emphasis on
critical elements of centrifugal and axial compressors, including detailed infor¬
mation on the compression process and the parameters that impact it. The
author has provided many helpful tips that will enable diagnosis of problems in
their early stages and analysis of failures to prevent their recurrence. Also treat¬
ed are the effects of the external environment on gas turbines operation and
life, as well as the impact of the gas turbine on its surrounding environment.

He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the states of California. Florida,
and Ohio. Mr. Giampaolo received his BME from the Catholic University of
America and his MSME from the University of Connecticut. He has authored
articles for Oil

Gas Journal. Diesel
&
Gas Turbine Worldwide, and is the
technical editor of Engines-Compressors-Turbines for Western Energy Maga¬
zine. Mr. Giampaolo has lectured on gas turbine performance and diagnos¬
tics techniques,
turbocompressor
operation, and effective control techniques
for
turbocompressors.
As a member of the part-time faculty of the California
State University, he has taught engineering thermodynamics and is scheduled
to teach a newly developed course on cogeneration. Mr. Giampaolo is a mem-
of professional, technical, and trade orqanizations.
