Zusammenfassung:Impelled Afghan Migration to Pakistan 1978-84, by Dr. Abdul Hamid Malik, is a December 2000 publication of the Area Study Centre (Russia & Central Asia), of the University of Peshawar, done in collaboration with Hanns Seidel Foundation of Germany. It is a Ph.D. thesis published by this Centre. The study has specifically focussed on the period when the influx of the Afghan refugees to Pakistan was at its peak. The 157 Strategie Studies research sample taken were two refugee camps; Nasir Bagh in Peshawar and Surkhab in Quetta. It can broadly be divided into three sections: introduction and historical background, elaboration of the case studies and the research methodology followed in it, and the findings and conclusions. The study is conducted within the frame of 'Push-Pull Theory* of sociology. Dr. Malik has based his thesis on various political, social, economic, and ideological push-pull factors, to evaluate the various aspects of the Afghan migration.
