start-up, and operation. His project involvement has included supervision of multi-mil¬
lion dollar projects in the pharmaceutical, refinery, chemical, pulp and paper, and fertil¬
izer industries. Other books authored by Mr.Thumann include Project Management for
Engineering and Construction, Lighting Efficiency Applications, Handbook of Energy Audits,
Energy Management Guide for Government Buildings, Introduction to Efficient Electrical Sys¬
tems Design, and Optimizing HVAC Systems. He is listed in Who s Who in America, and is
a member of AEE, IEEE, NSPE, ASA. and ASAE. He holds a MSEE and MSIE from New
York University.
Scott C. Dunning. Ph.D.·
P.E.«
C.E.M., is a Professor of Electrical Engineer¬
ing Technology and Director of the School of Engineering Technology at the University
of Maine in Orono, Maine. He is the founding director of both the University of Maine
Advanced Manufacturing Center as well as the Industrial Assessment Center. Dr. Dun¬
ning has been active in the field of energy systems since
1991.
He has conducted or
supervised well over
200
industrial assessments for New England manufacturers.
He is a Senior Member of IEEE as well as AEE. He has served as Chair of the Maine
Section of IEEE and National Chair of the Engineering Technology Division of
ASEE.
He has been recognized with many teaching and professional awards and regularly
lectures internationally for the Association of Energy Engineers.
