The monograph is dedicated to the theoretical essentials of shaping a
social-ecological-economic model of the territorial organization of economy,
of the population and management of nature of the Republic Belarus and to
the mechanism of hands-on implementation thereof. Social-ecological-
economic model of the territorial organization of the Republic Belarus is treated
as a system of scientific-analytical provision of the Strategy of the country's
territorial development which is called upon to become the basis of
modernization of the outdated administrative-territorial division and of carrying
out of an explicit regional policy aimed at achievement of basic goals of the
sustainable development, i.e. integrated solution of problems of development
of the Belarus' regions and rational use of their resource potential.
As potential units of the administrative
-
territorial structure of the
Republic Belarus at the sub-national level regarded is a system of social-
ecological-economic areas. Social-ecological-economic areas are territories
within which boundaries process of reproduction of social-economic,
demographic and natural resource potential is in progress. Each social-
ecological-economic area presents itself as a spatial life-support system of
a relative large urban center and as a basic subject of sustainable
development.
The monograph contains vast statistical and analytical evidence which
reflects geographical image of Belarus as a space of non-uniform social-
economic, demographic and ecological entity in the center of the European
sub-continent.
The book is intended for specialists in the branch of regional analysis
(geographers, economists, demographers,
ecologista
and sociologists),
officers of regional and local bodies of executive power, higher school
teachers, students and post-graduate students who scrutinize social and
economic geography of Belarus, regional economics, public administration

The monograph is dedicated to the theoretical essentials of shaping a
social-ecological-economic model of the territorial organization of economy,
of the population and management of nature of the Republic Belarus and to
the mechanism of hands-on implementation thereof. Social-ecological-
economic model of the territorial organization of the Republic Belarus is treated
as a system of scientific-analytical provision of the Strategy of the country's
territorial development which is called upon to become the basis of
modernization of the outdated administrative-territorial division and of carrying
out of an explicit regional policy aimed at achievement of basic goals of the
sustainable development, i.e. integrated solution of problems of development
of the Belarus' regions and rational use of their resource potential.
As potential units of the administrative
-
territorial structure of the
Republic Belarus at the sub-national level regarded is a system of social-
ecological-economic areas. Social-ecological-economic areas are territories
within which boundaries process of reproduction of social-economic,
demographic and natural resource potential is in progress. Each social-
ecological-economic area presents itself as a spatial life-support system of
a relative large urban center and as a basic subject of sustainable
development.
The monograph contains vast statistical and analytical evidence which
reflects geographical image of Belarus as a space of non-uniform social-
economic, demographic and ecological entity in the center of the European
sub-continent.
The book is intended for specialists in the branch of regional analysis
(geographers, economists, demographers,
ecologista
and sociologists),
officers of regional and local bodies of executive power, higher school
teachers, students and post-graduate students who scrutinize social and
economic geography of Belarus, regional economics, public administration
and contiguous disciplines. It is also addressed to a wide range of readers
who take interest in problems of transition of countries and regions to the
