at the Asian Center of the
University of the Philippines and Executive Director of PUNLAD Research House. Prior
to assuming the directorship of PUNLAD, Professor Jocano served the University of the
Philippines in various administrative capacities.
Professor Jocano received his MA
(1962]
and PhD
(1963)
degrees in anthropology
from the University of Chicago, Illinois, USA He also holds a BA degree
(1957)
from the
Central Philippine University, in Hoilo.
For his contribution to the study of Filipino society and culture, Dr. Jocano has
received several awards:

ciation for the Advancement of Science

by the Bishop Business Conference for Human Development
