Branko
Vukosavljević
as artillery captain, took part in the battles of two
Balkan wars, and as in the first two years of the First World War. Between the
end of
1916,
till mid May
1917,
when he was wounded, he was the only com¬
manding officer of the Nieuport Detachment in Vertekop, and at the same time
a pilot-fighter at the Salonika Front.
In
1916,
captain
Vukosavljević
finished pilot schools in
Chartres, Arcac-
hon,
Pau, Avord
and the Shooting School in Cazaux. Upon arrival to the
Salonika Front, he joined the war operations on board of his
Bébé
Nieuport
plane, thus, together with the pilot, second lieutenant Miodrag
Miletić,
achie¬
ved his first air victory, which was at the same time the first air victory of the
Serbian aeronautics at Salonika Front.
Being wounded in the air, captain
Vukosavljević
was treated in France,
but before the end of the treatment he participated in the flights of the French
squadrons Spa

and in the battle at Verdun he achieved his second
(nonconfirmed) air victory.
On the eve of the breakthrough at the Salonika Front, at the beginning
of September
1918,
captain
Vukosavljević
took over command of the First Ser¬
bian Squadron
(AR 521).
In cooperation with Serbian and French squadrons
of the First and the Second Serbian Army, he took part in the breakthrough at
the front.
After the end of the war operations, and when the squadron

reached
Novi Sad
airfield, captain
Vukosavljević
was appointed director of the First Ser-
bain Pilot School, and commander-in-chief of the Air Forces of the Kingdom
of Serbs, Croats and Slovenians.
Hardly a year later,
Branko Vukosavljević,
a major, was killed in a acci¬
