Zusammenfassung: | "This ... follows the 22nd Bomb Group from its Stateside prewar formation and training through its deployment to Northern Australia during the earliest days of WW II, through the end of the conflict on the island of Okinawa. Initially equipped with the B-26 Marauder, the 22nd BG pioneered the Pacific island-hopping route to Australia, then was one of the first American combat units to strike back at the Japanese in the skies over Rabaul and New Guinea. Later the 22nd partially re-equipped with the B-25 Mitchell, before becoming a B-24 Liberator Heavy Bombardment Unit and fighting its way across the Southwest Pacific to the doorstep of Japan. Revenge of the Red Raiders features over 600 pages of text and is massively illustrated by more than 1000 color and black and white photos, 4 magnificent color paintings by renowned aviation artist Jack Fellows, 48 full-color aircraft profiles, by Steve W. Ferguson and 16 detailed maps, showing all bases, the location of every mission flown, and the site of each aircraft lost. The chronological text is supplemented by definitive appendices of leaders, casualties, every combat aircraft flown, an encyclopedic history of the unit's aircraft and markings and insignias. Compiled from wartime records of the US, Japan and Australia, supplemented by the personal experiences of hundreds of the units veterans, this book stands as a landmark in aviation history. A particularly unique feature is the careful matching of information from both American and Japanese sources, providing for the first time an accurate account of the events portrayed from both sides of the action."--Publisher web site. |

A particularly unique feature is the careful matching of information from both American and Japanese sources, providing for the first time an accurate account of the events portrayed from both sides of the action."--Publisher web site.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="610" ind1="2" ind2="4"><subfield code="a">United States</subfield><subfield code="b">Army Air Forces</subfield><subfield code="b">Bomb Group, 22nd</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="610" ind1="2" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">USA</subfield><subfield code="b">Bomb Group</subfield><subfield code="g">22</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)7605094-4</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Weltkrieg (1939-1945)</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">World War, 1939-1945</subfield><subfield code="x">Aerial operations, American</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">World War, 1939-1945</subfield><subfield code="x">Regimental histories</subfield><subfield code="y">United States</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">World War, 1939-1945</subfield><subfield code="z">Pacific Area</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="0" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Zweiter Weltkrieg</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4079167-1</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="0" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Luftkrieg</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4036571-2</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Pazifischer Raum</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">USA</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="0"><subfield code="a">USA</subfield><subfield code="b">Bomb Group</subfield><subfield code="g">22</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)7605094-4</subfield><subfield code="D">b</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="1"><subfield code="a">Zweiter Weltkrieg</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4079167-1</subfield><subfield code="D">s</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Luftkrieg</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4036571-2</subfield><subfield code="D">s</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2=" "><subfield code="5">DE-604</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Evans, Don L.</subfield><subfield code="e">Sonstige</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="830" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Eagles over the Pacific</subfield><subfield code="v">2</subfield><subfield code="w">(DE-604)BV013753190</subfield><subfield code="9">2</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="2"><subfield code="m">Digitalisierung BSBMuenchen</subfield><subfield code="q">application/pdf</subfield><subfield code="u">http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=016082975&sequence=000002&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA</subfield><subfield code="3">Inhaltsverzeichnis</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="999" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">oai:aleph.bib-bvb.de:BVB01-016082975</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="942" ind1="1" ind2="1"><subfield code="c">355.009</subfield><subfield code="e">22/bsb</subfield><subfield code="f">09044</subfield><subfield code="g">73</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="942" ind1="1" ind2="1"><subfield code="c">355.009</subfield><subfield code="e">22/bsb</subfield><subfield code="f">09044</subfield><subfield code="g">181</subfield></datafield></record></collection> |

Corp. 2006 624 S. zahlr. Ill., Kt. txt rdacontent n rdamedia nc rdacarrier Eagles over the Pacific 2 Includes bibliographic references (p. 595-597) and index "This ... follows the 22nd Bomb Group from its Stateside prewar formation and training through its deployment to Northern Australia during the earliest days of WW II, through the end of the conflict on the island of Okinawa.
