Beschreibung:A free adaptation and translation of: "Le roman de Renart", in prose; attributed by Wing to John Shirley (fl. 1680-1702), who published a version in heroic verse in 1681 with a slightly different title. - Caption title: The pleasant history of Reynard the Fox. - Copy closely trimmed with slight loss of print; title page stained; MS. annotation on front flyleaf: "An edition of this book said to be the 'original' one, was valued in Lackinton, Allen, and Cos. General catalogue for the years 1808-9--page 644 at £1.4.0.
