Iliric. The Mijacs were one of the Slavic s tribes in the large Iliric
community spread from
south. This tribe has preserved its compactness till the end of the
XIX
stratum the most archaic forms of the language are preserved as
well as the customs, the peasant costumes and all the other charac¬
teristics of this ethnos. This tribe settled the south-west part of The
Balkans starting from Podgorica, Montenegro on the north to Mo-
rea,
kans was called Matia (Emathia) and according to the Byzantium
historian Strabon this was the real name of Macedonia. The menti¬
oned territory included current Albania, which was treated as West
Macedonia till the withdrawal of the Turkes in
tory, according to the liriology science, lived a tribe s group known
by the name Illirii

preserve the prehistorically characteristics. Those were The Mace¬
donians from The Mijacks ethnic group.
The Mijacks originate from the first inhabitants of The Bal¬

historically presence in The Balkans in the form of epigraphs on
two tombstones from Roman period were the ethno-name Mijack is
found. There are many other relevant evidences such as toponyms,
oronyms and hydronyms as well as personal and clan names regis¬
tered in the documents of various historical epochs. The following
toponyms are found on the territories were The Mijacks lived:

about the continuity and the genetic relation between the contem¬
porary Mijacks and the first inhabitants of The Balkans
(Mions, Migdonians, Milcians, Moskovitians).
Beside the iliriology science, the prehistorically origin of
The Mijacks is confirmed by a whole plead of scientific workers
from various countries of the world. Many of them, based on their
scientific researches, claim that The Mijacks are the most ancient
ethnos on The Balkans compared with the other surrounding
nations, that they are typical successors and guardians of the
continuity of The Antique Macedonians, that they are the oldest
landowners on The Balkans, that only they kept the old Bible
names and that in all historical documents about Macedonia the
tribe of Mijacks is always mentioned as one of the oldest ethnic
group. All these claims are based on historical facts and evidences
narrative, epigraphic and material sources. The language of The
Mijacks is very important evidence about their prehistorically cha¬
racter on The Balkans because unlike the other Slavic Languages,
only the Mijacks have preserved the most archaic forms. According
to the standpoint of many of the scientists there are elements of the
pre-language of the Slavs in the lexical structure of the language of
The Mijacks and this is very important for the slavistic science. In
this context a Slovenian scientist claims: Thanks to The Mijacks,
the ancient Slavic Language is perfectly preserved in his prelan-
guage form, dimension and content. Another Russian scientist

Macedonians. Another very important element that proves the anti¬
quity of The Mijacks ethnic group is the graceful bridal costume.
According to the standpoint of many scientists, in very ancient ti¬
mes the bridal costume was worn in royal, imperial and lando¬
wner s families and the decorative elements that include the antique
gems and symbols are a prove that it was the bridal costume of The
Antique Macedonians. This costume is preserved up to present ti¬
mes in continuity
In genetic regard, The Mijacks represent the most noble
tribe s group of the human civilization. They are peaceful, good-
hearted, united and friendly people. Everybody that studied the
genesis and the tribe s characteristics of this group have come to
the same conclusion that it is one of the most intelligent group
among The Slavs. The creative genius of The Mijacks stands high
in many fields, particularly in regard with construction, education
and culture. The Mijacks are far known with their architectural
work in building individual homes and church temples, proving
themselves as outstanding architects and constructors. Their archi¬

perfection in this field of the culture. The Mijacks also became
famous with fresco-painting and carving,
they became famous with their skills and working talents in fresco-
painting of churches and monasteries. According to certain statis¬
tics every forth church on The Balkans was fresco-painted by The
Mijacks skilled masters, members of the far known Mijacks Fresco-
painting School. Their carving works are considered as a crown of
their creating genius and spirit and they are placed among the best
in the whole world. The iconostasis in the churches Saint Spas in
