SUMMARY
On the second of March,
abdicated the crown in favour of his brother Grand Duke Mikhail
Alexandrovich. Next day, on the third of March, Mikhail, nominally
the last Russian Tsar, signed the Manifesto according to which
the supreme power in the country was to be passed on to the Provisional
Government. So the rein of
to an end.
The ruin of the monarchy in Russia put an end not only to
the whole period of the home history, but to a considerable extent
influenced also the direction of the development of the social
processes in the whole world.
Evaluating events of such a scale from a position of our time we
are always interested in the way those events were taken in by
contemporaries, who were their main participants or first-hand
witnesses and how the further fate of those people turned out.
This book is devoted to the most trusted and favourite Tsar
dignitary
V.B.Fredericks, whose signature was put to the Act on the second
of March,

the 78-year old Count said later with tears in his eyes.
The period of his active work as the Minister of the Court fell on
the dramatic years in the history of Russia

Revolution, and finally the fantastic ruin of the Romanovs House.
That s why the author doesn t confine herself only to the story
about relations of the Minister with the Imperial family (our «old
gentleman» was he so called with great love in the narrow family
circle) or to the description of his house in Livadia and habits of
the Tsar life in the Southcoast estate. Very shortly, but nevertheless
the description of the most important political processes, which took
place at that time as well as Fredericks attitude to them is given.
«I am a crystal- clear», used to say the Minister of the Court about
himself. Truly, his personality is very attractive: he was a person of
high culture and crystal sincerity, nobleness and adherence to duty.
