Summary
This book is a first monographic work dealing with a perso¬
nality of an outstanding Czech organist Josef
part deals with a history of organ music in Brno and its most promi¬
nent organists. It also concentrates on Pukl s pedagogic and concert
activities. Later its author describes Pukl s work of a church organist
and an expert in organology in great detail. She does not forget to
mention Pukl s expert participation in construction of organs he exer¬
cised for more than thirty years. The publication pays attention to Pu¬
kl s life experience and opinions about interpretation of music, which
are a valuable source of inspiration for the new generation of his fol¬
lowers. Pukl s importance as a teacher, artist and musical authority
are confirmed by the witness of his pupils, collaborators and compo¬
sers who devoted their compositions to him. The value of
intensified by the list of selected performances and press reviews. At
the end of the monograph a reader can find a list of compositions
performed and a unique photo section, which includes also photo¬
graphs and documents which are made public for the very first time.
