Summary
The present dissertation discusses and compares the most important aspects of the life of
Przemysľs
places located in the borderland but also the town s individual character. Ethnic, religious and
cultural diversity, the number of churches and monasteries as well as the establishment of
myśl
guild handicraft, whose importance, however, was later diminished by the influx of goods from
other parts of Poland and western Europe.
Przemyśl
received a tall defence wall with towers, and the town s spatial layout was influenced by its geo¬
graphical location in the valley of the San river and near important trade routes. In the forties of th

The function of the buildings was influenced by their location: those situated in the market
square, in
and trade purposes as well. During the 16th and
and their precincts were introduced: streets were paved, the town received its own water supply
system, a main outlet duct was built and tenement houses were fitted with water closets.
Social divisions in
