Mode of culture the Silver century:
culture-dialogue, phenomenology, risks,
reminding effect
A manner is rather characteristic for the artist of an epoch of the
Silver century to hide the person under a mask. Freakish literary
pseudonyms of poets and writers, mysterious vital histories, inclu¬
ding «entertaining geometry» love stories (love triangles) or fairy
tales of love as Z.Gippius called it writing novels in her personal
diary, reflections of festival aesthetics in «old» theatre (Columbine,
the Harlequin and other characters of the Italian theatre in
K-Somov s works, in I.Severyanin s poetry)
of «the play of life» commonly used by the artists of the Silver cen¬
tury. Drama in lives and life in a drama that s genre which more
than anything else relates both to symbolism
creativity (V.Khodaseuich), a modernism
reminder, and avant-gardism
The Silver century masks are many-sided and hermeneutico-
polilogically.
May be, this is why, there are more questions addressed to this
culture than answers. Meanwhile the temptation in researcher to
exclaim something like «Mask I know of you» is invariable great.
Traditions of understanding of the Silver century culture which
distinctive feature is «the spiritual primate» cultures (N.Berdyaev)
has arisen in domestic philosophical, cultural, historical, art criticism
idea and literary creativity on a boundary
Researcher in phenomenon of the Silver century transitivity is actual
today as well as when it is formed new, postmodernist and globaliza-
tional paradigms of culture.

Extremely important nowadays searching of approaches to
studying the Silver century is represented which is adequate to chal¬
lenge of contemporary culture. In this connection the author in the
given monograph (as well as in the previous book) offers this method¬
ological approach to research of culture of the Silver century
tures-dialogue. It is based on M.Bakhtina s understanding phenom¬
ena of dialogue and dialogue of cultures and the traditions develop¬
ing the given methodology in philosophical and cultural knowledge
(J.Lotman, V.Bibler). Thus culture-dialogue has the potential,
capable to expand border of knowledge of culture s a transitive epoch
and judgments actually a phenomenon of transitivity. In this case the
question is crossroads of centuries
ern transitional epoch.
Cultures dialogue in relation to transitive epoch appears as the
meta-dialogue including characteristic for them a polylogic of cul¬
tures with complex interrelations peculiar to it and dramatic art of
mutual relations of various cultural epoch and cultures, separated
from each other geographically, chronologically and mentally.
At the same time cultures-dialogue is an open methodological
system. It correlates with other methodological approaches: includes
synthesis of the historical, philosophical and functional-attributive
(cultural) approach; the phenomenological approach and hermeneu-
tical methods for studying of culture of the Silver century.
The author of the monograph recreates image of culture of the
Silver century on the basis of philosophical and a cultural heritage,
literary works and art of that period, researches of contemporary
philosophers, culturologists, critics on the given problematic. From a
position of cultures-dialogue originality of the Silver century in a
philosophical and cultural context of the European culture of a
boundary of XIX-XX centuries is understood, analogies in dra¬
matic art, social, cultural and art processes of two transitional epoch
(boundaries

In the monograph receives the substantiation and interpretation
the conceptual device of cultures-dialogue as the author s
methodological approach. The treatment of terms entered by the
author «cultures-dialogue», the definitions connected to it
ture-challenge», «culture-risk», «cultures-allusion», «culture-inno¬
vation» is given. In a semantic field of the Silver century risks in cul¬
ture as the forecast of risks of a contemporary transitional epoch
which are studied in a context of processes of globalization are
considered. Originality and interrelations of culture of this time are
investigated in art space of a modernism, the European modernist
style, avant-gardism of the beginning of XX century and art of
century. In the Glossary social and cultural components of the Silver
century and the modernity are generalized.
The Silver century as a philosophical and cultural metaphor and
meta-culture-allusion of the European Renaissance, ideals of
Antiquity and neo-romanticism, shows a new view in concept of
«creativity». A priority of a phenomenon of creativity and exclusive
interest to the person of the Artist
the Silver century. The author of the monograph investigates the
Artist in a context of dialogue and perception of Russian and West-
European cultures, in particular, in aspect of a reflection of the Silver
century on the French painting
It is obvious, that the Artist who could live during an epoch of
changes, should have completely special vision. Also this «view» is
formed during a polylogic of cultures. A key to his understanding in
culture-dialogue of various epoch as main principle of development
of philosophy and art in an area modern him of culture. The Artist
is and the participant of culture-dialogue and the initiator: the play¬
wright, the director, the actor. Culture is his «vital play».

Dissimuler la face derrière un masque est une posture très
typique pour l Artiste de l époque de l Age d argent. Pseudonymes
littéraires fantasques des poètes et des écrivains, histoires de vie
mystérieuses, y compris la «géométrie curieuse» des love
(triangles amoureux, etc.) ou des «contes d amour» (c est comme
ça que Z.Hippius appelait ses histoires amoureuses dans son
journal privé), signes de l esthétique carnavalesque du «vieux»
théâtre
italien dans les œuvres de K.Somov ou les poésies de I.Severianine,
etc.), autant des éléments de cette «pièce» que le créateur de l Age
d argent faisait de sa vie. Le drame de la vie et la vie vécue comme
un drame, tel est le genre qui correspond le mieux au symbolisme,
considéré comme un «cas de la création collective»
(V.Khodassevitch), au moderne (Art nouveau), considéré comme
un effet de rappel, et à l avant-gardisme, considéré comme un effort
de dépassement et de négation par rapport aux deux premiers. Les
masques de l Age d argent sont à facettes multiples,
polysémantiques et polylogiques, du point de vue herméneutique.
C est sans doute pour cette raison que cette culture suscite plus de
questions qu elle n en donne de réponses. Or, le chercheur est
toujours tellement tenté de s exclamer: «Je te connais, beau
masque!»...
L analyse de la culture de l Age d argent dont la caractéristique
spécifique est, selon N.A. Berdiaev, la «primauté spirituelle» de la

culture, plonge ses racines dans la pensée russe (philosophie,
culturologie, histoire, critique d art), ainsi que dans l œuvre
littéraire de la période située aux confins des XIXe et XXe siècles.
Une étude portant sur le caractère transitionnel de l Age d argent
garde toujours son actualité au moment où se forme une nouvelle
paradigme de la culture à la base du post-postmodernisme et de la
mondialisation.
Pour une analyse de l Age d argent, il est extrêmement
important, aujourd hui, de mettre au point de nouvelles approches
qui seraient adéquates aux défis de la culture moderne. A cet effet,
l auteur propose dans la présente monographie, tout comme dans
son ouvrage précédent (voir Saiko E.A. «Le culture-dialogue de la
philosophie et de l art a l époque de
Edition de l Académie Russe de la Fonction Publique,
approche méthodologique de l analyse de la culture de l Age
d argent qui est le culture-dialogue. Cette approche se base sur
l interprétation, faite par M.M.Bakhtine, du phénomène de
dialogue et de celui de dialogue des cultures, ainsi que sur les
traditions qui développent cette méthodologie par rapport a la
connaissance philosophique et culturologique (Y.M.Lotman,
V.S.Bibler et autres). La notion de culture-dialogue offre des
potentialités permettant d élargir les frontières de la connaissance
des cultures qui appartiennent a des époques de transition et celles
de la compréhension du phénomène de transition proprement dit. Il
s agit, en l occurrence, de deux carrefours d entre deux siècles,
l Age d argent et l époque de transition moderne.
Par rapport aux époques de transition, le culture-dialogue est un
méta-dialogue comprenant le polylogue des cultures qui caractérise
ces époques, avec tous ses liens complexes et une dramaturgie des
relations existant entre les différentes époques culturelles et les
différentes cultures qui, géographiquement, chronologiquement et

mentalement, sont éloignées les unes des autres.
En même temps, le culture-dialogue est un système
méthodologique ouvert, car rejoignant d autres approches
méthodologiques
philosophique, fonctionnelle et attributive (culturologique), de
même que l approche phénoménologique et les méthodes
herméneutiques servant à étudier la culture de l Age d argent.
L auteur reconstitue l image de la culture de l Age d argent se
basant sur le patrimoine philosophique et culturologique, les
ouvrages littéraires et les œuvres d art de cette période, les études
réalisées par des philosophes, culturologues et critiques d art
contemporains. Dans l optique du culture-dialogue, l auteur
analyse la particularité et l originalité de l Age d argent face au
contexte philosophique et culturologique de la culture européenne
aux confins des XIXe et XXe siècles, relevant des parallèles dans
la dramaturgie des processus socioculturels et artistiques
caractérisant les deux époques de transition (fin du XIXe
du XXe siècles, d une part, fin du XXe
d autre part).
La monographie explique le bien-fondé et l interprétation de
l ensemble noétique du culture-dialogue en tant que l approche
méthodologique choisie par l auteur. Elle donne une définition des
termes introduits par l auteur: le «culture-dialogue» et les notions
liées à celui-ci, a savoir: «culture-défi», «culture-risque», «culture-
allusion», «culture-innovation». Dans le champ sémantique de
l Age d argent, l auteur examine les risques liées à la culture sous la
lumière de la prévision des risques pouvant surgir à l époque de
transition actuelle qui, eux, sont analysés dans le contexte de la
mondialisation. Il étudie les processus d inter-réflexion et d inter-
reproduction propres à la philosophie et à l art de l Age d argent.
L originalité de la culture de cette période et les rapports existant à

modernisme, de l Art nouveau européen, de

Considéré comme une métaphore philosophique et
culturologique et une méta-culture-allusion de la Renaissance

etc.), autant des éléments de cette «pièce» que le créateur de l'Age
d'argent faisait de sa vie. Le drame de la vie et la vie vécue comme
un drame, tel est le genre qui correspond le mieux au symbolisme,
considéré comme un «cas de la création collective»
(V.Khodassevitch), au moderne (Art nouveau), considéré comme
un effet de rappel, et à l'avant-gardisme, considéré comme un effort
de dépassement et de négation par rapport aux deux premiers. Les
masques de l'Age d'argent sont à facettes multiples,
polysémantiques et polylogiques, du point de vue herméneutique.
C'est sans doute pour cette raison que cette culture suscite plus de
questions qu'elle n'en donne de réponses. Or, le chercheur est
toujours tellement tenté de s'exclamer: «Je te connais, beau
masque!».
L'analyse de la culture de l'Age d'argent dont la caractéristique
spécifique est, selon N.A. Berdiaev, la «primauté spirituelle» de la

culture, plonge ses racines dans la pensée russe (philosophie,
culturologie, histoire, critique d'art), ainsi que dans l'œuvre
littéraire de la période située aux confins des XIXe et XXe siècles.
Une étude portant sur le caractère transitionnel de l'Age d'argent
garde toujours son actualité au moment où se forme une nouvelle
paradigme de la culture à la base du post-postmodernisme et de la
mondialisation.
Pour une analyse de l'Age d'argent, il est extrêmement
important, aujourd'hui, de mettre au point de nouvelles approches
qui seraient adéquates aux défis de la culture moderne. A cet effet,
l'auteur propose dans la présente monographie, tout comme dans
son ouvrage précédent (voir Saiko E.A. «Le culture-dialogue de la
philosophie et de l'art a l'époque de
Edition de l'Académie Russe de la Fonction Publique,
approche méthodologique de l'analyse de la culture de l'Age
d'argent qui est le culture-dialogue. Cette approche se base sur
l'interprétation, faite par M.M.Bakhtine, du phénomène de
dialogue et de celui de dialogue des cultures, ainsi que sur les
traditions qui développent cette méthodologie par rapport a la
connaissance philosophique et culturologique (Y.M.Lotman,
V.S.Bibler et autres). La notion de culture-dialogue offre des
potentialités permettant d'élargir les frontières de la connaissance
des cultures qui appartiennent a des époques de transition et celles
de la compréhension du phénomène de transition proprement dit. Il
s'agit, en l'occurrence, de deux carrefours d'entre deux siècles,
l'Age d'argent et l'époque de transition moderne.
Par rapport aux époques de transition, le culture-dialogue est un
méta-dialogue comprenant le polylogue des cultures qui caractérise
ces époques, avec tous ses liens complexes et une dramaturgie des
relations existant entre les différentes époques culturelles et les
différentes cultures qui, géographiquement, chronologiquement et

mentalement, sont éloignées les unes des autres.
En même temps, le culture-dialogue est un système'
méthodologique ouvert, car rejoignant d'autres approches
méthodologiques
philosophique, fonctionnelle et attributive (culturologique), de
même que l'approche phénoménologique et les méthodes
herméneutiques servant à étudier la culture de l'Age d'argent.
L'auteur reconstitue l'image de la culture de l'Age d'argent se
basant sur le patrimoine philosophique et culturologique, les
ouvrages littéraires et les œuvres d'art de cette période, les études
réalisées par des philosophes, culturologues et critiques d'art
contemporains. Dans l'optique du culture-dialogue, l'auteur
analyse la particularité et l'originalité de l'Age d'argent face au
contexte philosophique et culturologique de la culture européenne
aux confins des XIXe et XXe siècles, relevant des parallèles dans
la dramaturgie des processus socioculturels et artistiques
caractérisant les deux époques de transition (fin du XIXe
du XXe siècles, d'une part, fin du XXe
d'autre part).
La monographie explique le bien-fondé et l'interprétation de
l'ensemble noétique du culture-dialogue en tant que l'approche
méthodologique choisie par l'auteur. Elle donne une définition des
termes introduits par l'auteur: le «culture-dialogue» et les notions
liées à celui-ci, a savoir: «culture-défi», «culture-risque», «culture-
allusion», «culture-innovation». Dans le champ sémantique de
l'Age d'argent, l'auteur examine les risques liées à la culture sous la
lumière de la prévision des risques pouvant surgir à l'époque de
transition actuelle qui, eux, sont analysés dans le contexte de la
mondialisation. Il étudie les processus d'inter-réflexion et d'inter-
reproduction propres à la philosophie et à l'art de l'Age d'argent.
L'originalité de la culture de cette période et les rapports existant à

l'intérieur de cette culture sont analysés dans l'espace artistique du
modernisme, de l'Art nouveau européen, de
du XXe siècle et de l'art du XXIe siècle. Le Glossaire regroupe les
éléments socioculturels de l'Age d'argent et de l'époque
contemporaine.
Considéré comme une métaphore philosophique et
culturologique et une méta-culture-allusion de la Renaissance
européenne, des idéaux de l'antiquité et du néoromantisme,
d'argent offre une nouvelle vision de la notion de «création». La
priorité accordée au phénomène de la création et un intérêt
exceptionnel pour la personne de l'Artiste constituent les traits
particuliers de l'Age d'argent. L'auteur considère l'Artiste dans le
contexte des rapports et de
ouest-européenne, notamment sous l'aspect de la réflexion de l'Age
d'argent dans la peinture française, à savoir dans l'œuvre de
H.Matisse,
Il est évident que l'Artiste vivant dans une époque de
changements a forcement une vision tout à fait particulière. Cette
vision se forme justement dans le cadre du polylogue des cultures.
Pour la comprendre, il est important, avant tout, d'étudier le
culture-dialogue des époques différentes qui représente le principe
essentiel de l'évolution de la philosophie et de l'art dans l'espace
culturel qui leur correspond. L'Artiste est à la fois le participant au
culture-dialogue et l'initiateur
comédien. La culture constituant une «pièce qu'il vit». |
