SUMMARY
An Ode to the Great Act of Union is a book which underlines the presence of
the ideal of unity in Romanian people s thinking all over the centuries, starting with
the antiquity and ending up in our present days. The unity of our ancestors was
proved with enough examples and arguments, despite having suffered temporary
foreign attacks such as the old Roman Empire, the migratory tribes, the
neighboring kingdoms and empires (Hungarian, Polish, Ottoman, Habsburgian and
Czarist), all these could not stop the unity to occur. Yet, the foreign intrigues
caused harmful wounds in our people s existence. Each in particular and all as a
whole led to results like annexations of territories, economic exploitation and
destruction of national spirit. The period of Roman conquest and mastery during
the1st century B.Ch. and the4th century
and basic form of government and by a mixture between natives and Romans
leading to local forms of administrative government-usually in regions delimitated
by forms of relief: by depressions, by valleys and fields.
