adam_text | A Test of Faith and Courage:
Pattern
World War II history should be made known to
everyone, everywhere, because an understanding
of such a major war may help prevent another one,
believes author and war hero Oscar B. Ladner. For
the citizens of this great country to remain free, we
must all have something we believe in immensely
and a cause we are willing to die for. Without such
we are a meaningless and empty people who are
easily destroyed by the forces of evil, says Ladner
who was dispatched during the autumn of
the borders of France as part of the 65th Infantry
of General George
the Siegfried Line.
While he faced nonstop peril, starvation, and
chronic mental and physical fatigue, he also
witnessed many acts of humanity, comradery, and
patriotism. His own acts of heroism made him
well-respected within the ranks and earned him
several distinctions, including the Combat Infantry
Badge and Bronze Star Medal.
Following the liberation of Saarlautern, and the
breaching of the previously impenetrable Siegfried
Line, Ladner was handpicked to ride shotgun on
one of General George Patton s beloved Pershing
tanks. As he trudged through Germany facing
endless Panzer fire and aircraft attacks, as well as
the hunger, trench foot, fatigue, and mental
turmoil, Ladner discovered incredible leadership,
comradery, and compassion.
With the ending of the war this hero s
service was still not complete. He then faced the
traumatic assignment of helping to clear out the
concentration camps and assist in the evacuation
of camp victims, prisoners of war, and displaced
persons to their places of origins
the horrors involved therein (including atrocities
that our government failed to share).
This detailed personal account graphically
explains the costliness of World War II in suffering
and privation. Through the author s eyes, feelings,
and hardships you will witness the incredible gift
those involved extended in helping rid the world
of tyranny and oppression.
Oscar B. Ladner,
earned the
Infantry Badge for his bravery and heroics
with the 65th Infantry Division of General
George Patron s
II. During his stint riding shotgun on a
Pershing tank, Ladner became one of the
soldiers included in the elite fighting force
known as
was Intelligence, Discipline and Courage.
Following the war he continued to serve his
country as an. officer in the Reserves.
The retired attorney enjoys American,
European, and Russian history, as well as
ocean sailing, deep sea fishing, and gourmet
cooking. Ladner lives in Gulfport,
Mississippi
