During recent years the financial
services industry has faced a
worldwide increase in deregulation
and improvements in information
technology that are creating "the
world without borders." In light of
recent developments, the financial
services industry has shown
trends of increased consolidation
across different types of financial
institutions. This book focuses
on the conglomeration of banking
and insurance activities among
financial institutions of the EU-15,
while addressing the development
and impact of conglomeration
linkages between the EU-15 and its
ten new member states. It also
discusses the promises and pitfalls
of financial conglomeration. |
