HÉCTOR TOBAR
journalist. He has served as the National Latino Affairs
correspondent for the Los Angeles Times and was part of
the writing team that won a Pulitzer Prize for the cover¬

New Yorker ana LA Weekly, and is the author of a novel,
The Tattooed Soldier, that was a finalist for a
Center USA West Award. The son of Guatemalan immi¬
grants, he holds an MFA from the University of
California, Irvine.
