I his is the first book in the field of mouse genetics describing compre¬
hensive and standardized methods for the characterization of laboratory
mice. It provides a brief introduction to the mouse as a model for
diseases and functional analysis of genes and proteins. Throughout,
it is focused on the characterization of mouse models using the latest
phenotyping methods, with the different areas presented in a dearly
structured and easily accessible manner.
Martin Hrabé de Angelis ¡s
National Research Centre for Environment and Health in Munich. He holds the chair for
Experimental Genetics at the Technical University in Munich and serves as director of the Euro¬
pean Mouse Mutant Archive in Monterotonde, Rome, Italy. He studied at the Pilipps University
in Marburg receiving his PhD in
Laboratory in Bar Harbor, USA until iggy when he started his own research group at the GSF.

molecular basis of genetic deafness. Dr. Brown is a fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences,
a member of the European Molecular Biology Organisation and the author of
publications.
