Davidson, Susan Grace Galassi, Margaret Iacono, Wolfram Koeppe, Holger Möhlmann, Edgar Munhall, John Роре-Неппеѕѕу, Orlando Rock, Sophie Schlò ndorff, and Ashley Thomas Edited by Joseph Focarino The first eight volumes of The Frick Collection: An Il¬ lustrated Catalogue chronicled the museum s world- famous holdings of paintings, sculpture, furniture, gilt bronzes, porcelains, enamels, rugs, and silver. This ninth and final volume covers the many extraordinar) drawings and prints assembled by Henr) Clay Frick and his successors, as well as a wide range of paintings, sculpture, and decorative art acquired since 1968 and several works that were accessioned earlier but have never before been published. The thirty-one exceptionally fine drawings are by such masters as Pisanello, Altdorfer, Rubens, Claude, Rembrandt, Greuze, Gainsborough, Goya, Ingres, Corot, and Whistler. Included in the impressive group of fifty-nine prints are four superb impressions by Dürer, three engravings by Van Dyck, eleven of Rembrandt s most celebrated etchings and drypoints, thirteen of Meryon s pivotal Etchings of Paris, twelve Whistler prints comprising the First Venice Set, and twelve eighteenth-century English reproductive por¬ trait prints. The sixteen paintings acquired since 19 6 8 or other¬ wise previously uncatalogued include works by such important artists as Gentile da Fabriano, Piero della Francesca^emling, Watteau, Guardi, Reynolds, Rae- burn, Constable, and Corot. The eight recently ac¬ quired sculptures are all by illustrious names: Laurana, Verrocchio, Antico, Severo da Ravenna, Jonghelinck, Algardi, Bernini, and Coysevox. Finally, there are eight notable works of decorative art, including an Italian credenza, five Flemish tapestries, a Sèvres porcelain bust, and a gilt-bronze French clock. The one hundred and seventeen entries include artists biographies, signatures, dates of execution, materials, dimensions, marks and inscriptions, de¬ scriptions, condition reports, history, comparable examples, exhibitions, and provenance, all supported by ample notes and additional references. More than one hundred and forty plates, twenty of them in color, reproduce comprehensive views of each piece, signatures, and original marks.
