Ladakh is one of the highest land in the world,

High
altitude climate is notorious for its extremes.
The raging
duststor
ins on summer afternoons,
seldom cloudy an unexpected snowfall are the
uniqueness of this region.
Ladakh, though, difficult part for the
researches yet there is urgent need to have
more pragmatic, problem
orienti·»!
and field
based research. The foregoing analysts gives
a very dismal look for the coming >v;trs unless
a new environmental ethic is involved
wherein the nature of research, appraisal of
the resources and the characteristic socio-
economic aspects and the development
measures will have to be reoriented

these provide the basic outline for working
out concrete strategics for dealing with the
problems in the most appropriate manner.
Dr. Prem Singh Jina did Ph.D.
(Eco.)
from
Kumaun University, Nainital. He started his
professional career in the Central Institute
of Buddhist Studies,
Leh,
Ladakh in
1981,
as a lecturer.
Dr. Jina is a renown scholar and writer.
He has written more than one hundred
research papers on the different aspects of
Ladakh Himalaya.
Dr. Jina was awarded Indian Council
of Historical Research Fellowship during
1996-97
for the research project on Ladakh.
