(Summary)
In this study we have tried to throww light on
certain problems, values and prominent characteristics of
children s folk poetry. The poetical heritage of this type
belongs to the literary genre of folk poetry. Similar to all
other types of folk creation, children s poetry is also
transmitted orally, which in this way becomes richer and
undergoes changs in the course of time of space.
Beside the
introduktion,
the material of this
study has been arranged in seven
chaters,
where each of
them discusses particular issues. The first chapter
reviews the chronology of collection and publication of
children s poetry; the second chapter discusses the issue
of the study level of this material in the field of
Albanology; the third chapter examines efforts which
were done in the classification of this kind of folk poetry.
The problem of classification of this type of poetry, is
one of the most complex issues. This is because it is very
hard to make a clear cut line between a song and a game,
or better say between the poetic text and the game itself,
and the fact that, very often, the language of children s
poetic texts is incomprehensible; the fourth chapter
examines the poetic structure of children s poetry, where
common characteristics with other similar types were
pointed, and their distinctive features; where as the
significance and the importance of games in

communication
between peers is the subject study of the
fifth chapter. The game as the main activity of children
has provoked the curiosity of various scholars. This is
quite reasonable if one has in mind the fact that various
abilities are developed during this period, such as: the
ability for value assessment, emotional experiencing, the
intellect, the sense for the collective life, etc. The game
becomes thus more than a natural factor and develops
thus the feeling for collective life, which has also
unavoidable effects in the formation of the individual s
personality; the motive-thematic aspect of these creations
was dealt in the sixth chapter. With concrete examples,
we have shown that the thematic-motivational circle of
this type of poetry is very wide and that it extends in all
spheres of children s emotional life and realm. A great
number of songs are thus connected with heavenly
planets like: the sun, the moon, and stars; with the
natural phenomena like: mist, clouds, rain, rainbow, etc.
The trails of magic activities are kept in the creations of
this thematic circle, which are related to harvest and
fertility, and have, at the same time, an amusing
character for children. Such trails with pagan elements
point out a very serious ancient activity of adults, which
in the cause of time has lost its aim and has nowadays
become an anusing activity for children. Figuratively,
one could say that these trails speak of an early
childhood of people. A great number of songs are
dedicated to various animals like: beasts, birds and
insects, etc. In the texts of these songs, the child melts his
talent and knowledge for the characteristics of these
creatures. Sometime, the texts of these creations are
influencid by folk tales and ballads. As a typical axample

in this direction, one could take poetic creations for the
cuckoo. On the other hand, various customs are ridiculed
through children s comic songs, such as: stubbornness,
fraud, laziness, fear, greediness, commendation, lies,
stealing, etc.; the seventh and last chapter has been
devoted to children s folk language. This language has its
specific features which makes it differ from the rest of
other registers of folk language. The lexical fund of these
poetic texts is limited. The noun and the verb category
are dominant in the language of this poetry. Due to age
limitation, the language of these creations, as different
from folk poetry of adults, poetically does not create a
strong emotional tension with the listener

The most frequent figures of children s poetry are:
personification, epithet, onomatopoeia, gradation,
repetitions, etc. The rythm of songs, however, is not
build in a mechanical way and does not have any
standard, on the contrary, it has a complete arganisational
freedom.
In conclusion it can be said that children s folk
poetry is the first try of upcoming poets and creatores to
estabilish contact and poetic communication with the
nature and the world round them. During these
centennial endeavours, small poets have managed to
incorporate in the lines of their songs desires, dilemmas,
sufferings, joys, excitements, doubts, bad and good
deeds, the known and unknown facts, believing thus that,
one day, will capture all these and use them to the benefit
of a better and happier life.
