This paper deals with seed, nursery, and planting practices
in Japan, which may have application in other parts of temperate
Asia It is therefore issued in the World Forest Planting Manual
series It has been prepared under the direction of MAS AT AKA
OHMASA, Director, Government Forest Experiment Station,
Aleguro, Tokyo Acknowledgement is made to KOZO HASEGAWA
former Director of the Forest Experiment Station; SADAO OGI-
