Ahlstrand,
author of The Quest
for Productivity and co-author of Human

Divisional Company, is a professor of
management at Trent University in
Ontario, Canada.
Joseph Lampel is a Reader in manage¬
ment at the University of St. Andrews,
Scotland. He is founding member of
the Institute for Research on Emergent
Policy Processes, and a senior research
fellow of the International Project in
the Management of Engineering and
