The aim of the thesis is to examine how well programs making numerical computations can be executed on a massively parallel computer. The programs are written in a functional language and a simulator is used as the parallel computer. The parallel computer simulated is basically a graph reduction machine. The main purpose of the examinations made in the thesis is to determine the degree of parallelism exhibited when executing the numerical programs on the parallel computer, in order to decide whether or not it can be recommended to actually built [sic] a computer based on the proposed principles. It should be noted that in the thesis it is recommended that the described computer is built." |
