| adam_text | INCOME DISTRIBUTION
IN
The gap between the incomes of rich and poor households excites
debate for social, economic, and political reasons. Many policy reforms
are suggested, or rejected, on the grounds that they narrow or widen the
income gap.
This study compares income distribution in
of its dispersion between households on a standardised basis, adjusted
for household size. Separate contributions of property and employment
incomes and the effects of direct taxes and cash transfers are analysed,
and national studies used to summarise national trends in income
distribution over the last two decades.
