Zusammenfassung: | The Generative Lexicon presents a novel and exciting theory of lexical semantics that addresses the problem of the "multiplicity of word meaning" - that is, how we are able to give an infinite number of senses to words with finite means. The first formally elaborated theory of a generative approach to word meaning, it lays the foundation for an implemented computational treatment of word meaning that connects explicitly to a compositional semantics In contrast to the static view of word meaning (where each word is characterized by a predetermined number of word senses) that imposes a tremendous bottleneck on the performance capability of any natural language processing system, Pustejovsky proposes that the lexicon becomes an active - and centralcomponent in the linguistic description. The essence of his theory is that the lexicon functions generatively, first by providing a rich and expressive vocabulary for characterizing lexical information; then, by developing a framework for manipulating fine-grained distinctions in word descriptions; and finally, by formalizing a set of mechanisms for specialized composition of aspects of such descriptions of words, as they occur in context, extended and novel senses are generated The subjects covered include semantics of nominals (figure/ground nominals, relational nominals, and other event nominals); the semantics of causation (in particular, how causation is lexicalized in language, including causative/unaccusatives, aspectual predicates, experiencer predicates, and modal causatives); how semantic types constrain syntactic expression (such as the behavior of type shifting and type coercion operations); a formal treatment of event semantics with subevents); and a general treatment of the problem of polysemy |

Darst. txt rdacontent n rdamedia nc rdacarrier The Generative Lexicon presents a novel and exciting theory of lexical semantics that addresses the problem of the "multiplicity of word meaning" - that is, how we are able to give an infinite number of senses to words with finite means. The essence of his theory is that the lexicon functions generatively, first by providing a rich and expressive vocabulary for characterizing lexical information; then, by developing a framework for manipulating fine-grained distinctions in word descriptions; and finally, by formalizing a set of mechanisms for specialized composition of aspects of such descriptions of words, as they occur in context, extended and novel senses are generated The subjects covered include semantics of nominals (figure/ground nominals, relational nominals, and other event nominals); the semantics of causation (in particular, how causation is lexicalized in language, including causative/unaccusatives, aspectual predicates, experiencer predicates, and modal causatives); how semantic types constrain syntactic expression (such as the behavior of type shifting and type coercion operations); a formal treatment of event semantics with subevents); and a general treatment of the problem of polysemy Gerativismo (gramática) larpcal Grammaire générative Gramática transformacional Linguistique informatique Lingüística computacional Lingüística computacional larpcal Natuurlijke-taalverwerking gtt Semântica gerativa larpcal Sémantique Woordbetekenis gtt Computational linguistics Generative grammar Semantics Semasiologie (DE-588)4077365-6 gnd rswk-swf Wortschatz (DE-588)4126555-5 gnd rswk-swf Semantik (DE-588)4054490-4 gnd rswk-swf Lexikologie (DE-588)4114409-0 gnd rswk-swf Bedeutung (DE-588)4005184-5 gnd rswk-swf Lexikalische Analyse (DE-588)4217379-6 gnd rswk-swf Generative Semantik (DE-588)4156610-5 gnd rswk-swf Computerlinguistik (DE-588)4035843-4 gnd rswk-swf Generative Transformationsgrammatik (DE-588)4071705-7 gnd rswk-swf Generative Grammatik (DE-588)4113707-3 gnd rswk-swf Bedeutung (DE-588)4005184-5 s Generative Grammatik (DE-588)4113707-3 s DE-604 Semantik (DE-588)4054490-4 s Computerlinguistik (DE-588)4035843-4 s Wortschatz (DE-588)4126555-5 s Generative Transformationsgrammatik (DE-588)4071705-7 s Lexikologie (DE-588)4114409-0 s DE-188 Semasiologie (DE-588)4077365-6 s Generative Semantik (DE-588)4156610-5 s 1\p DE-604 Lexikalische Analyse (DE-588)4217379-6 s 2\p DE-604 3\p DE-604 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
