Zusammenfassung: | The European Renaissance has attracted a wealth of scholarly literature on its different aspects, but few generalized accounts. This new textbook provides students with a highly readable synthesis of the major determining features of one of the most influential cultural revolutions in history. Italy has traditionally dominated any study of the Renaissance, but the approach of this book is broader, and tackles its themes in a way not previously attempted in the wider European context, charting not only the dramatic Italian experience of humanism, but its dissemination throughout northern Europe. Professor Nauert traces the humanist 'movement' from its origins in medieval culture and through the appropriation of classical Antiquity, and connects it to the social and political environments in which it subsequently developed In a tour-de-force of lucid exposition over six wide-ranging chapters, Nauert charts the key intellectual, social, educational and philosophical concerns of this humanist revolution, using Renaissance art and short biographical sketches of key figures to illuminate the discussion. While other studies of humanism have concentrated on origins and early diffusion, this one also traces subsequent transformations of humanism and its solvent effect on intellectual developments in the late Renaissance |

Press 1995 X, 237 S. Ill. txt rdacontent n rdamedia nc rdacarrier New approaches to European history 6 The European Renaissance has attracted a wealth of scholarly literature on its different aspects, but few generalized accounts. While other studies of humanism have concentrated on origins and early diffusion, this one also traces subsequent transformations of humanism and its solvent effect on intellectual developments in the late Renaissance Geschichte 1420-1600 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1450-1550 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1350-1600 gnd rswk-swf Humanisme (cultuurgeschiedenis) gtt Humanisme - Europe Humanismo - Europa Renaissance Renaissance gtt Humanism -- Europe Renaissance (DE-588)4049450-0 gnd rswk-swf Philosophie (DE-588)4045791-6 gnd rswk-swf Humanismus (DE-588)4026140-2 gnd rswk-swf Kultur (DE-588)4125698-0 gnd rswk-swf Kunst (DE-588)4114333-4 gnd rswk-swf Europa Europa (DE-588)4015701-5 gnd rswk-swf Europa (DE-588)4015701-5 g Kultur (DE-588)4125698-0 s Geschichte 1350-1600 z DE-604 Humanismus (DE-588)4026140-2 s Renaissance (DE-588)4049450-0 s Kunst (DE-588)4114333-4 s Philosophie (DE-588)4045791-6 s Geschichte 1450-1550 z 1\p DE-604 2\p DE-604 Geschichte 1420-1600 z 3\p DE-604 4\p DE-604 New approaches to European history 6 (DE-604)BV008939056 6 http://www.loc.gov/catdir/description/cam026/94041320.html Publisher description http://www.loc.gov/catdir/toc/cam022/94041320.html Table of contents 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 4\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
