Zusammenfassung:Learning to teach may appear to be fairly straightforward to the layperson, but the reality is quite different. Classroom teaching is only the most visible part of the job of a teacher and, to become a good teacher, a student needs to develop the knowledge, skills and procedures upon which professional expertise is based. This text provides the support to student teachers and their tutors, particularly during the school-based element of their initial teacher education course. This element is increasingly important in the light of the shift in emphasis towards a school-based teacher education course. This book gives a sound and practical introduction to the teaching skills which a student teacher needs to acquire and the theory underpinning them
The book is divided into units, each covering a key concept or skill. Units focus initially on the management of classrooms and on key issues of concern to prospective teachers managing classes for the first time. The units then progress to address factors influencing learning and the wider professional perspective. Each unit contains a brief introduction to key concepts or skills and learning activities for the student teacher. These may be used individually or in groups. In addition, there are annotated lists of further reading for students and tutors who wish to explore particular topics in more detail
