Summary: | Interest in ancient rhetoric and its relevance to modern society has increased dramatically over recent decades. In North America, departments of speech and communications have experienced a noticeable renaissance of concern with ancient sources. On both sides of the Atlantic, numerous journals devoted to the history of rhetoric are now being published. Throughout, Aristotle's central role has been acknowledged, and there is also a growing awareness of the contributions made by Theophrastus and the Peripatetics. Peripatetic Rhetoric After Aristotle responds to this recent interest in rhetoric and peripatetic theory The chapters provide new insights into Peripatetic influence on different periods and cultures: Greece and Rome, the Syrian- and Arabic-speaking worlds, Europe in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, and the international scene today. Contributors to this volume include Maroun Aouad, Lucia Calboli Montefusco, Thomas Conley, Tiziano Dorandi, Lawrence D. Green, Doreen C. Innes, George A. Kennedy, Michael Leff, and Eckart Schutrumpf. This comprehensive analysis of the history of rhetoric ranges from the early Hellenistic period to the present day. It will be of significant interest to classicists, philosophers, and cultural historians |

spelling | Peripatetic rhetoric after Aristotle ed. by William W. Fortenbaugh ... New Brunswick, NJ [u.a.] Transaction Publ. 1994 VIII, 415 S. txt rdacontent n rdamedia nc rdacarrier Rutgers University <New Brunswick, NJ>: Rutgers University studies in classical humanities 6 Interest in ancient rhetoric and its relevance to modern society has increased dramatically over recent decades. It will be of significant interest to classicists, philosophers, and cultural historians Aristote / Rhétorique Aristotle Rhetoric Aristoteles v384-v322 Rhetorica ad Alexandrum (DE-588)4068842-2 gnd rswk-swf Aristoteles v384-v322 De arte rhetorica (DE-588)4230268-7 gnd rswk-swf Aristoteles v384-v322 (DE-588)118650130 gnd rswk-swf Antike Klassieke oudheid gtt Klassieke talen gtt Receptie gtt Retorica gtt Rezeption Rhetorik Rhétorique Rhetoric Antike (DE-588)4068754-5 gnd rswk-swf Rhetorik (DE-588)4076704-8 gnd rswk-swf Peripatos (DE-588)4115529-4 gnd rswk-swf (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Geschichte der griechischen Rhetorik (DE-2581)TH000005758 gbd Peripatos (DE-2581)TH000006631 gbd Aristoteles v384-v322 (DE-588)118650130 p Rhetorik (DE-588)4076704-8 s DE-604 Peripatos (DE-588)4115529-4 s Antike (DE-588)4068754-5 s Aristoteles v384-v322 Rhetorica ad Alexandrum (DE-588)4068842-2 u Aristoteles v384-v322 De arte rhetorica (DE-588)4230268-7 u Fortenbaugh, William W. 1936- Sonstige (DE-588)110233700 oth Rutgers University <New Brunswick, NJ> Rutgers University studies in classical humanities 6 (DE-604)BV000007932 6 HEBIS Datenaustausch https://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:443/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=006409110&sequence=000002&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis |
