Zusammenfassung:Abstract: "In large-scale multiprocessor systems, fast synchronization is crucial for high performance. One proposed approach is that of the IBM RP3 project: synchronization requests are separated from memory requests, and a special multistage combining network is used to handle synchronization. However, multistage combining networks are expensive pieces of hardware. We propose a cost-effective solution to the problem of speeding up synchonization in a large-scale multiprocessor system: a combining shuffle-exchange network that gives better performance than software synchonization schemes, and is cheaper than a multistage combining network by a factor of logN, where N is the system size."
