A year later, an Arid Zone Research Center was created within Tehran University to implement the various research activities connected with the Arid Zone problems. The AZRC of the University of Tehran with the cooperation of the IMD started a long-term project with the dual task of compiling climatic summaries for more than 200 stations that then existed in Iran and this atlas resulted from the preparation of climatic summaries. Almost all the data appearing in the present climatic atlas have been derived from the original station record available in the archive of the Iranian Meteorology Dept. After an introduction by M. H. Ganji who was a professor of geography at Tehran University in November 1967, a large and detailed contents page is bilingual. |
