ACKNOWLEDGMENT
Over the 30-odd years during which General Radio has been
making electronic stroboscopes, many of its engineers have written
on the subject of stroboscopy, and this book is largely a synthesis of
such earlier work So many have been thus involved that it is im-
possible to acknowledge their contributions individually The same
is true of the many General Radio customers who have volunteered
the applications information so essential to a book of this kind
For their direct assistance in the preparation of this handbook,
three General Radio colleagues must be singled out: Maldolm Holtje,
for his constant technical guidance, and William Thurston and
Michael Fitzmorris, for their valuable reviews of early drafts
