Zusammenfassung:This paper is a compilation of the experiences and ideas discussed during a seminar entitled "Violence Against Women: Addressing a Global Problem," held in New York in February 1991. The seminar was sponsored by the Women's Program Forum, a staff group that provides opportunities for grantmakers to discuss issues related to women's programs. In this paper, the context of the seminar, which reflected the issue that violence against women knows no boundaries in culture, race, or class, were presented. Violence was underscored as perhaps the single greatest cause of injury to women in several countries. A diverse group of researchers and activists focusing primarily on two strategic approaches, community responses to violence against women, and reforms in the criminal justice system was featured.
