Zusammenfassung:The central idea for the volume focused on the application of management concepts and skills to the work and careers of psychologists. /// The central concept of the original project remains, namely, that psychologists must apply managerial knowledge and skills to their practices in order to become truly successful. The field of management has much to offer the entrepreneurial practitioner, the beleaguered academician, and the climbing administrator. However, throughout the volume, I have tried to keep the emphasis on our own field of psychology. The examples and exercises have all been constructed with a desire to assist psychologists with many of the routine problems and decisions that beset us in our work. The whole idea is to improve what we do, how we do it, and, in the process, to increase our levels of satisfaction, skill, and success. /// All of the authors here provide examples from the many subareas of the field, in recognition of the fact that these management concepts and skills can be applied by any psychologist to improve both what he or she does and how he or she does it. I have taken the stand that every psychologist is a practitioner and that our work and careers can be understood as businesses that must be well managed in order to succeed.
