This book aims to provide an introduction to the historical sources relevant to
the study of government and politics in the reign of Charles the Great. Emphasis
is placed on the capitularies, newly translated by
Dr
John Percival, and to a
lesser extent on the letters of Alcuin, a principal source of information about
the politics and personalities of Carolingian Europe.
