Zusammenfassung: | Like many other international organizations, the World Trade Organization stands at a crossroads. There is an obvious imbalance between the organization's dispute settlement arm and its negotiation platform. While its current rules, supported by a strong dispute settlement system, have provided some buffering against the negative effects of the financial crises, its negotiation machinery has not produced any substantial outcomes since the late 1990s. It has become obvious that the old way of doing business does not work any more and fresh ideas about governing the organization are needed. Based on rigorous scholarship, this volume of essays offers critical readings on the functioning of the system and provides policy-relevant ideas that go beyond incremental redesign but avoid the trap of romantic scenarios. |

Based on rigorous scholarship, this volume of essays offers critical readings on the functioning of the system and provides policy-relevant ideas that go beyond incremental redesign but avoid the trap of romantic scenarios.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="546" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">English.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="610" ind1="2" ind2="0"><subfield code="a">World Trade Organization.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no94018277</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="610" ind1="2" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">World Trade Organization</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">BUSINESS & ECONOMICS</subfield><subfield code="x">Exports & Imports.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">BUSINESS & ECONOMICS</subfield><subfield code="x">International</subfield><subfield code="x">General.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">BUSINESS & ECONOMICS</subfield><subfield code="x">International</subfield><subfield code="x">Marketing.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">POLITICAL SCIENCE</subfield><subfield code="x">International Relations</subfield><subfield code="x">Trade & Tariffs.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">dissertations.</subfield><subfield code="2">aat</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Academic theses</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Academic theses.</subfield><subfield code="2">lcgft</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/genreForms/gf2014026039</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Thèses et écrits académiques.</subfield><subfield code="2">rvmgf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Cottier, Thomas.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n84036382</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Elsig, Manfred.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n2002062899</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="758" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="i">has work:</subfield><subfield code="a">Governing the World Trade Organization (Text)</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCFxHKMwgHWj7VrXM8frRjC</subfield><subfield code="4">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/ontology/hasWork</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="t">Governing the World Trade Organization.</subfield><subfield code="d">New York : Cambridge University Press, ©2011</subfield><subfield code="z">9781107004887</subfield><subfield code="w">(DLC) 2010038587</subfield><subfield code="w">(OCoLC)664115060</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="l">FWS01</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBU</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBU</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=400554</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBSCOhost</subfield><subfield code="b">EBSC</subfield><subfield code="n">400554</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">7319643</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">7113336</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">7214844</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">7261735</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="994" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">92</subfield><subfield code="b">GEBAY</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ZDB-4-EBU</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="049" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">DE-863</subfield></datafield></record></collection> |

Like many other international organizations, the World Trade Organization stands at a crossroads.
