Zusammenfassung: | "While comparative constructions have been extensively studied in the past decades, the expression of equality and similarity has so far attracted little attention in the typological literature. The fifteen contributions assembled in this volume study similative and equative constructions in typologically and genetically distant languages, albeit with a focus on Africa, and from a range of perspectives. Purely synchronically oriented case studies are supplemented by contributions that also shed light on the diachronic development of similative and equative constructions in language contact situations. Sources of similative morphemes and lexically expressed concepts of likeness are examined, and little-known multifunctionality patterns and grammaticalisation targets of similative morphemes - such as purpose clause markers, modality morphemes and markers of glottonyms - are discussed. Based on a sample of 119 languages worldwide, a new typology of equative constructions is proposed. The book should be of interest to typologists, semanticists, specialists of grammaticalization, historical linguistics and syntax." |

The book should be of interest to typologists, semanticists, specialists of grammaticalization, historical linguistics and syntax."</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Grammar, Comparative and general</subfield><subfield code="x">Coordinate constructions.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85056279</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Grammar, Comparative and general</subfield><subfield code="x">Grammaticalization.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85056293</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Contrastive linguistics.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85031652</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Typology (Linguistics)</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85139174</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Coordonnées (Linguistique)</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Grammaticalisation.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Linguistique contrastive.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Typologie (Linguistique)</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">LANGUAGE ARTS & DISCIPLINES</subfield><subfield code="x">Grammar & Punctuation.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">LANGUAGE ARTS & DISCIPLINES</subfield><subfield code="x">Linguistics</subfield><subfield code="x">Syntax.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Contrastive linguistics</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Grammar, Comparative and general</subfield><subfield code="x">Coordinate constructions</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Grammar, Comparative and general</subfield><subfield code="x">Grammaticalization</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Typology (Linguistics)</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Electronic book.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Treis, Yvonne,</subfield><subfield code="e">editor.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Vanhove, Martine,</subfield><subfield code="e">editor.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="t">Similative and equative constructions.</subfield><subfield code="d">Amsterdam ; Philadelphia : John Benjamins Publishing Company, [2017]</subfield><subfield code="z">9789027206985</subfield><subfield code="w">(DLC) 2016057185</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="830" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Typological studies in language ;</subfield><subfield code="v">v. 117.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="l">FWS01</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=1531901</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Askews and Holts Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">ASKH</subfield><subfield code="n">AH32139270</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBL - Ebook Library</subfield><subfield code="b">EBLB</subfield><subfield code="n">EBL4875188</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBSCOhost</subfield><subfield code="b">EBSC</subfield><subfield code="n">1531901</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ProQuest MyiLibrary Digital eBook Collection</subfield><subfield code="b">IDEB</subfield><subfield code="n">cis37142874</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">14560844</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="994" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">92</subfield><subfield code="b">GEBAY</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="049" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">DE-863</subfield></datafield></record></collection> |

The book should be of interest to typologists, semanticists, specialists of grammaticalization, historical linguistics and syntax."
