Zusammenfassung: | In this study of cloned wildlife, the author adds another dimension to the study of reproduction, illustrating how social and biological reproduction are bound together. The natural world is marked by an ever-increasing loss of varied habitats, a growing number of species extinctions, and a range of dilemmas posed by global warming. At the same time, humans are also working to actively shape this natural world through contemporary bioscience and biotechnology. Here, the author posits that cloned endangered animals in zoos sit at the apex of these two trends, as humans seek a scientific solution to environmental crisis. Often fraught with controversy, cloning technologies, the author argues, significantly affect our conceptualizations of and engagements with wildlife and nature. -- Adapted from publisher's description. |

-- Adapted from publisher's description.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Cloning.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85027122</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Endangered species.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85043044</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="1" ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Cloning, Organism</subfield><subfield code="0">https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D019976</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="1" ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Animals, Wild</subfield><subfield code="x">genetics</subfield><subfield code="0">https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D000835Q000235</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="2" ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Endangered Species</subfield><subfield code="0">https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D056727</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Clonage.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">SCIENCE</subfield><subfield code="x">Life Sciences</subfield><subfield code="x">Anatomy & Physiology.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">SOCIAL SCIENCE</subfield><subfield code="x">Sociology</subfield><subfield code="x">General.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Cloning</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Endangered species</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="758" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="i">has work:</subfield><subfield code="a">Cloning wild life (Text)</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCGKwWVQXvP9Gp33R7jtG6q</subfield><subfield code="4">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/ontology/hasWork</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="a">Friese, Carrie.</subfield><subfield code="t">Cloning wild life.</subfield><subfield code="d">New York : New York University Press, [2013]</subfield><subfield code="z">9780814729083</subfield><subfield code="w">(DLC) 2013009420</subfield><subfield code="w">(OCoLC)844308833</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="830" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Biopolitics Series.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="l">FWS01</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=611788</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">10882098</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Project MUSE</subfield><subfield code="b">MUSE</subfield><subfield code="n">muse27846</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBSCOhost</subfield><subfield code="b">EBSC</subfield><subfield code="n">611788</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ebrary</subfield><subfield code="b">EBRY</subfield><subfield code="n">ebr10734889</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBL - Ebook Library</subfield><subfield code="b">EBLB</subfield><subfield code="n">EBL1336359</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">De Gruyter</subfield><subfield code="b">DEGR</subfield><subfield code="n">9780814729090</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Askews and Holts Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">ASKH</subfield><subfield code="n">AH32993271</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="994" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">92</subfield><subfield code="b">GEBAY</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="049" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">DE-863</subfield></datafield></record></collection> |

Introduction -- Debating cloning -- Making animals -- Transpositions -- Reproducing populations -- Genetic values -- Knowing endangered species -- Biodiversities -- Conclusion. Print version record. In this study of cloned wildlife, the author adds another dimension to the study of reproduction, illustrating how social and biological reproduction are bound together.
