Zusammenfassung: | How are we placed on Earth? What is our relationship to the world around us, and how does our thinking affect the way we relate to the world? We are entrapped, says the author, by what Martin Heidegger calls "enframing," a worldview that considers all objects as mere resources for our use. This book envisions a different way of thinking about the world, one grounded in a moral imagination reconnected to Earth. Insightful readings of three contemporary classics of nature writing - Janisse Ray's Ecology of a Cracker Childhood, Terry Tempest Williams's Refuge: An Unnatural History of Family and Place, and Linda Hogan's Dwellings: A Spiritual History of the Living World - are at the heart of the author's endeavor. Powerful and affecting works like these reveal a pathway to a deeper remembering, one that reconnects us with the primal forces of creation and acknowledges the sacredness of the world. We have forgotten that the world around us is rich and fertile and generative, says the author. His exploration of these literary works, based on deep anthropology and Native American philosophy, opens a pathway into a new way of thinking called sacred reason. Founded on interdependence and interrelationship, and on care and compassion, sacred reason reminds us that divinity exists around us at all times. We are invited to walk, once again, in a land filled with many gods. -- |

--</subfield><subfield code="c">Publisher's website.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="546" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">English.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">American literature</subfield><subfield code="x">History and criticism.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85004351</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Environmental literature</subfield><subfield code="x">History and criticism.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Ecocriticism.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2002001448</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Nature in literature in literature.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Human ecology in literature.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85062862</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Ecology in literature.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh94004213</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Écocritique.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Écologie humaine dans la littérature.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">LITERARY CRITICISM</subfield><subfield code="x">American</subfield><subfield code="x">General.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">NATURE</subfield><subfield code="x">Environmental Conservation & Protection.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">American literature</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Ecocriticism</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Ecology in literature</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Environmental literature</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Human ecology in literature</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Nature in literature</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Lyrik</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Natur</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Ecocriticism</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="0">http://d-nb.info/gnd/4790005-2</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">USA</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="0">http://d-nb.info/gnd/4078704-7</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Criticism, interpretation, etc.</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="758" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="i">has work:</subfield><subfield code="a">Walking in the land of many gods (Text)</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCH4xyYmPCTjBq8fx4DhWDq</subfield><subfield code="4">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/ontology/hasWork</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="a">Wohlpart, A. Introduction : A mind of sky and thunder and sun -- Remembering deep space and deep time : Heidegger, the pleistocene, and Native American philosophy -- Restor(y)ing the self : ecological restoration in Janisse Ray's Ecology of a cracker childhood -- The long migration home : listening to birds in Terry Tempest Williams's Refuge: an unnatural history of family and place -- Healing the severed trust : Linda Hogan's Dwellings: a spiritual history of the living world as native ceremony -- Walking in the land of many gods : remembering the mysterious plenitude of Earth. Print version record. How are we placed on Earth? -- Publisher's website. English.
