Zusammenfassung: | Magazine articles, talk shows, and commercials advise us that our happiness and well-being rest on striking a balance between work and family. It goes unsaid, however, that the advice is based on an outmoded and unrealistic ideal. This provocative volume challenges the notion - often offered in support of neo-liberal agendas - that paid work (employment) and unpaid work (caregiving and housework) are separate and competing spheres, rather than overlapping aspects of a single existence. Alternative approaches to integrating work and family must be taken into account if we hope to build truly equitable family and childcare policies. </body> </html> |

</body> </html></subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Work and family</subfield><subfield code="z">Canada.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Caregivers</subfield><subfield code="x">Family relationships</subfield><subfield code="z">Canada.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Women</subfield><subfield code="x">Employment</subfield><subfield code="z">Canada.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Women</subfield><subfield code="z">Canada</subfield><subfield code="x">Social conditions.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Travail et familles</subfield><subfield code="z">Canada.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Aidants naturels</subfield><subfield code="x">Relations familiales</subfield><subfield code="z">Canada.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Femmes</subfield><subfield code="x">Travail</subfield><subfield code="z">Canada.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Femmes</subfield><subfield code="z">Canada</subfield><subfield code="x">Conditions sociales.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">POLITICAL SCIENCE</subfield><subfield code="x">Public Policy</subfield><subfield code="x">Cultural Policy.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">SOCIAL SCIENCE</subfield><subfield code="x">Anthropology</subfield><subfield code="x">Cultural.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">SOCIAL SCIENCE</subfield><subfield code="x">Popular Culture.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Caregivers</subfield><subfield code="x">Family relationships</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Women</subfield><subfield code="x">Employment</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Women</subfield><subfield code="x">Social conditions</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Work and family</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Canada</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PBJkMHVW4rfVXPrhVP4VwG3</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Krull, Catherine.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Sempruch, Justyna.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="758" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="i">has work:</subfield><subfield code="a">A life in balance?
